How We Hunt the Lights – An Arctic Adventure
Join us for an unforgettable Northern Lights chase departing from Rovaniemi!
This isn’t just a tour — it’s a real aurora hunt that combines science, adventure, and the raw magic of Arctic Lapland. The experience lasts 5–8 hours on average, but we stay flexible every single night. Depending on the weather and aurora forecast, the tour can run anywhere from 4 to 10 hours and we’ll go wherever the sky is clearest. Pick-up time is around 7 PM, though it may shift between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM depending on conditions. You’ll receive the exact pick-up time and location no later than 3 PM on the day of your tour.
We’ll collect you from your accommodation in a warm 8- or max 19-seat minibus and take you to the very best spots of the night. Our experienced guides track cloud movements, wind directions, and space weather in real time across the entire Nordic region. If needed, we head north toward Levi, east near the Russian border, or even cross into Sweden or Norway — borders are no obstacle when the sky is clear.
Along the way you’ll drive through silent snowy forests under the stars, with a good chance of spotting reindeer or moose on the roadside. When we find a promising location, we stop and wait. Patience is part of the game, but the reward is worth it. Standing in the frozen wilderness, far from city lights and everyday noise, is an experience you’ll never forget — even before the lights appear.
Safety always comes first. Our vehicles are fully equipped for Arctic winter conditions and our drivers are seasoned professionals on icy roads.
You’ll go home with professional high-quality photos of the aurora (taken during the tour and sent to you afterward), warm tea and coffee on site, and our Northern Lights guarantee: if we don’t see any aurora at all, you get a free retry the next available night or a full refund.
Dress warmly in layers, bring extra snacks and drinks if you like, and get ready for a night you’ll talk about for years.
