How We Hunt the Lights – An Arctic Adventure

Northern Lights Chase from Rovaniemi – Small-Group & Group Tour Options Join us for an unforgettable Northern Lights hunt departing from Rovaniemi!

This is not just a tour — it’s a real aurora chase that blends science, adventure, and the pure magic of Arctic Lapland. The experience usually lasts 5–8 hours, but we stay completely flexible every night. Depending on the weather and aurora forecast, the chase can run anywhere from 4 to 10 hours. We always head to where the sky is clearest.

Choose the option that suits your group size:

  • Small-Group Aurora Experience (max 19 people) A more intimate and personal chase using a warm 8- or 19-seat minibus. We pick you up directly from your accommodation. You will receive the exact pickup time and location (between approx. 18:30–19:30) no later than 15:00 on the day of your tour.
  • Group Tour / Coach Option (max 47 people) Comfortable and spacious choice for larger groups, school trips, corporate groups or anyone preferring more room. Operated with a full-size coach or combination of vehicles depending on the final number of participants. Fixed departure: always at 19:00
  • Meeting point: Koskikatu 23, bus stop next to Pub Uitto Please arrive 10 minutes early (by 18:50) to ensure a smooth departure.

Our experienced guides monitor cloud movements, wind patterns, and space weather in real time across the whole Nordic region. If needed, we drive north toward Levi, east near the Russian border, or even cross into Sweden or Norway — borders are no obstacle when the sky clears.

Along the way you’ll travel through silent snowy forests under a starry sky, with a good chance of seeing reindeer or moose by the roadside. When we find a promising location, we stop and wait. Patience is part of the experience — but the reward can be breathtaking. Standing in the frozen wilderness, far from city lights and noise, is unforgettable… even before the aurora appears.

Safety first All our vehicles are fully equipped for Arctic winter conditions, and our drivers are highly experienced professionals on snowy and icy roads.

What’s included:

  • Professional high-quality aurora photos (taken during the tour and sent to you afterwards)
  • Hot tea and coffee served in the field
  • Northern Lights Guarantee: If we don’t see any aurora at all, you get a free retry on the next available night or a full refund
