Sustainability
As a proud Rovaniemi-based company, we are dedicated to preserving our Arctic environment through practical and sustainable actions. We proudly hold the Biosphere certification for responsible tourism, aligning with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda. This internationally recognized certification validates our commitment to balancing economic, socio-cultural, and environmental responsibilities. Additionally, we are actively pursuing the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label, a prestigious program by Visit Finland that promotes sustainable tourism practices tailored to Finland’s unique environment and culture. Achieving the STF label reflects our ongoing efforts to meet rigorous sustainability standards and contribute to Finland’s goal of carbon-neutral tourism.
We embrace the circular economy by recycling materials, repurposing equipment, and partnering with local suppliers to reduce transport emissions. A significant portion of our vehicle fleet is electric, lowering our carbon footprint. We maintain our vehicles for longevity, use energy-efficient LED lighting in our facilities, and promote digital ticketing to minimize paper waste. Through the Biosphere certification, we implement over 400 sustainable activities across five key areas: climate change, environment, society, economy, and culture, with annual third-party audits ensuring continuous improvement. Our pursuit of the STF label further strengthens our commitment by integrating sustainable practices like reducing waste, supporting local employment, and preserving Lapland’s cultural and natural heritage.
With the Biosphere certification and our work toward the STF label, we enhance our visibility as a responsible tourism provider, meeting the growing demand for sustainable travel. Our efforts include transparent communication through tools like Biosphere’s QR code, showcasing our sustainability initiatives to customers. Through these concrete steps, we strive to protect Rovaniemi’s pristine Arctic environment and support our local community for future generations.
